    Why do commercial drivers require a medical?

    It is a legal requirement for every new commercial driver to be medically assessed before applying for their provisional licence. Any current commercial licence driver must undergo a medical every 5 years from age 45 up to 65, then annually from 65.

  • C1 Medical - Horsebox

    Why do I need a medical to drive a horsebox?

    If your horsebox weighs between 3.5 Tons and 7.5 Tons then you are required by law to have a C1 medical to gain your provisional licence. This particularly applies if you passed your driving test after 1997.

    Any current horsebox driver must undergo a medical every 5 years from age 45 up to 65, then annually from 65.

    Why do I need a medical to drive an ambulance?

    Why do Seafarers require a ML5 medical?

    The Maritime & Coastguard Agency require that seafarers undergo a medical to objectively assess their health.

  • Motorsport UK Medical

    What type of motorsport medical do I need?

    Renewal of National, Club or Inter Club licences:

    Members aged > 60 years:

    You must have a medical, 12 lead resting ECG and vision test at the following age intervals: 60, 65, 70, 72, 74 and annually from the age of 75.

    Members aged < 49 years:

    Medical examination and vision test every 12 months and a 12 lead Resting ECG every 24 months.

  • C1 Medical - Motorhome

    Why do motorhome drivers require a C1 medical?

    In the UK, it is a legal requirement for motorhome drivers to be assessed as to whether they are medically fit to drive? Drivers that learnt to drive before 1997 have the C1 category as “grandfather rights” on their car driving licence. When you turn 70, you must have a medical and then every 3 years thereafter if you wish to drive a motorhome between 3.5T and 7.5T in weight.

    Every new motorhome driver (from 1997 onwards) requires a medical prior to applying for their provisional licence. Any current motorhome driver must then undergo a medical every 5 years from age 45 up to 65, then annually from 65.

  • Firearm Medical

    Why do firearms require a medical for licensing?

    It is now written in law, that if you use/own a firearm that your medical records are reviewed. This medical review assesses whether that you are both fit in my mind and body to hold this licence.

    Who will carry out my firearm medical?

    The medical is carried out by a GMC registered doctor on the specialist register. They are also a panel member of ‘The British Association for Shooting & Conservation (BASC).’

    The process:

    >Call to request this service and details on how to pay.

    >We will email a consent form to you, complete and return this to us.

    >The Worthing Clinic will request your FULL MEDICAL HISTORY for new applications or THE LAST 10 YEARS for renewal applications from your GP. Please allow up to 4 weeks.

    >The Worthing Clinic will complete the medical note scrutiny and return the completed form to you within 14 days.

    What do I do next?

    It is then your responsibility to send this form onto the relevant police authority with your other application.

    Who issues the firearm licence?

    Your local police force will make the final decision regarding your license application.

  • Plant Operator Medical

    Who needs this type of medical?

    Most employers will insist on a medical certificate of fitness to certify that the person who operates heavy machinery/plant operator is in good health for the workplace. The Health & Safety Executive suggest that plant operators be medically assessed to the level of a class 1 licence holder or class 2 (HGV/PCV) depending upon their handling role. Examples of machinery where this medical is required include; excavators, dump trucks, forklift trucks and more.

    Who will carry out my medical?

    The medical is carried out by a GMC registered doctor. The medical will be performed to the standard of class 2 licensing.

    The Medical Certificate

    This will be completed by the doctor at the end of your assessment and given to you on the day. It is valid for 3 years from the date it is issued.

  • Channel Swimming Association (CSA) Medical Certificate

    Why do I need a medical?

    According to: https://www.channelswimmingassociation.com/swim-advice/a-step-by-step-guide it is imperative that your medical health has been assessed before taking on the endurance of a cross channel swim.

    Why do I need a medical?

    Recreational divers are required to self assess their medical fitness on a questionnaire and then under go a medical evaluation.

  • Auto Cycle Union GB Racing Medical & The Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM) Medical

    Why do I need a medical?

    ACU / FIM Competition Licence - Road Race, Scooter Road Race, Parade, Drag, Sprint & Hillclimb, Supermoto and Pocket Bike.

    All applicants wishing to take part in ACU / FIM competitions in the United Kingdom or Internationally must hold a valid personal licence. Depending on your health and age, you may be required to have a medical first.

  • Competition / Expedition Medical

    Why do I require a medical?

    Most events such as the OCR European Championships, marathons or expeditions to remote / high altitude locations insist on a medical assessment. For your safety you should be assessed prior to the event to consider the effects of known/unknown medical problems on your physiology prior to extreme sport or extreme location exposure.

    Who will carry out my medical?

    The medical is carried out by a GMC registered doctor.

    For some competitions / expeditions a 12 lead ECG is required. This will be performed during your appointment.

  • Jet Sport Racing Association (JSRA) Medical

    Why do I need a medical?

    All UK residents who wish to take part in personal watercraft racing in the United Kingdom or Internationally must hold a valid licence issued by the JSRA.

    Most applicants will require a regular JSRA medical but you may need a resting ECG (if aged >45 or have any underlying heart problems): CALL to arrange this.

  • Skydive/Parachute Medical

    Who needs this type of medical?

    If you are planning on jumping out of a plane (!) whether singularly or a tandem jump; and you are over 40 years old, you will need a medical certificate signed and stamped by a GMC registered doctor. This also applies for anyone who has had any of the following medical conditions:

    Epilepsy

    Severe head injury

    Recurrent blackouts

    Any kind of brain or nervous system disease

    Hypertension

    Heart or lung disease

    Diabetes

    Mental illness

    Drug or alcohol addiction
