D4 Medical - HGV / LGV / PCV.
£70
A D4 medical is a health assessment required by the DVLA for drivers applying for or renewing a Group 2 licence, including HGV (lorry) and PCV (bus and coach) drivers. The assessment helps ensure that drivers meet the medical standards needed to drive larger vehicles safely and professionally. If you're applying for a commercial driving licence or renewing an existing one, you may need a D4 medical to meet DVLA requirements. It is a legal requirement for all new commercial drivers to have a medical before applying for their provisional licence. Existing commercial drivers must have a medical every five years from age 45 until 65, and then annually from the age of 65.
You require this medical if any of the following apply
Anyone applying for their first HGV, lorry, bus or coach driving licence
Existing professional drivers renewing their Group 2 DVLA licence
Drivers aged 45 and over who require regular DVLA medical renewals
Drivers aged 65 and over who need an annual medical assessment
Anyone returning to professional driving where a medical assessment is required
What to expect during the medical
A review of your medical history, including any existing conditions and medications
An eyesight assessment to check you meet DVLA Group 2 driving standards
A blood pressure check and general health assessment
Completion of the DVLA D4 medical examination form
Appointment duration
Your appointment will usually take around 20–30 minutes.
What to bring
Please bring photo ID, your current driving licence (if you already hold one), any DVLA paperwork you need completing, and your glasses or contact lenses if you use them. It is also helpful to bring details of any medication you currently take.

Certificate issued
Following your assessment, we complete the DVLA D4 medical examination report form, which you will submit as part of your licence application or renewal process. If any additional information or clinical follow up is required, we will discuss this with you.
