A Motorsport UK racing medical is a health assessment required for certain competition licence applications and renewals. It is designed to make sure you are fit and well enough to safely take part in motorsport. During the appointment, we’ll review your medical history, check your general health and carry out the relevant clinical assessments required by Motorsport UK. Depending on your licence requirements, an ECG may also be needed. We’ll explain everything clearly on the day, so you know exactly what’s involved.

Are applying for a new Motorsport UK competition licence
Are renewing an existing competition licence that requires a medical
Need to meet the medical requirements for your specific Motorsport UK licence
Are returning to competitive motorsport and need an updated medical assessment
Have been advised by Motorsport UK that a medical or ECG is required
What to expect during the medical
The assessment will include:
A review of your medical history and current health
A Doctor’s Medical examination
An ECG, where required for your licence
A comprehensive vision test
Completion of the relevant Motorsport UK medical documentation
Appointment duration
Approximately 30 minutes without an ECG, 45-60 minutes with an ECG.
What to bring
Please bring your Motorsport UK medical form, your current glasses or contact lenses if you use them, and details of any medication or relevant medical conditions.

Certificate issued
Once your medical has been completed, we’ll complete the relevant Motorsport UK medical documentation for your licence application or renewal. Where possible, we’ll complete and return your paperwork during your appointment, so you can get on with the rest of your licence application without unnecessary delays.

The medical requirements and validity period depend on the Motorsport UK licence you are applying for. We’ll make sure you understand what applies to you and whether any further medical assessment will be required for future renewals.
