A skydive or parachute medical is a health assessment to make sure you’re medically fit to take part in skydiving or parachuting safely. The exact requirements can vary depending on the organisation, type of jump and your circumstances. During the assessment, we’ll review your medical history, discuss any existing health conditions or medication, and carry out the relevant clinical checks.
You require this medical if any of the following apply
You may need a skydive or parachute medical if you:
Are starting skydiving or parachuting and have been asked to provide medical clearance
Have an existing medical condition that may affect your ability to participate safely
Take regular medication that may need to be considered before jumping
Are returning to skydiving after a significant change in your health
Have been advised by your skydiving club, instructor or governing organisation that you need a medical assessment
What to expect during the medical
A review of your medical history and current health
Discussion of any existing medical conditions or medication
Relevant clinical examinations and health checks
Assessment of any factors that may affect your ability to skydive safely
Completion of the medical form or certificate required by your organisation

What to bring
Please bring any medical forms or paperwork provided by your club, instructor or organisation, along with your summary care record from your GP.

Certificate issued
Once your assessment is complete, we’ll provide or complete the medical certificate or form required by your skydiving or parachuting organisation. Where possible, we’ll complete your paperwork during your appointment, so you can leave with everything you need. If additional documentation is required afterwards, we’ll let you know.
Certificate validity period
The validity period depends on the organisation and type of skydiving or parachuting activity. We recommend checking the specific requirements before booking to make sure your medical is completed within the required timeframe.

On the day, please bring photo ID, any paperwork you’ve been asked to have completed, and your glasses or contact lenses if you wear them.
